COMPARING TWO MUSIC MAGAZINES

Q magazine consist of basic black white and red colours. by using these colours it means that the image on the cover stands out on the main page. this is important because this makes the reader focus on the main image. this is key because it shows the band or an important person within music and this enable the reader to understand who and what the magazines main focus is going to be about. this magazine consists of the main conventions of a magazine this is because it includes the by-line, headline and other key aspects that all magazine include.

Like Q the magazine VIBE includes many of the same aspects. this shows that all of the magazines have similar content and colour schemes this is because many of the well known magazines include the colour theme of red white and black. this is good to use on this cover because the white shirt blends in with the background and this means that the image of the person that the magazine is focusing on come out and stand out in the whole cover.

 The image stands out because of the black and white theme.

 The image is effective because the theme is black and white.

What appeals to you about this magazine?

 The basic and clear front cover because of the clear and simple colour scheme.

How much do you pay for a magazine?

 £2 usually but they are sometimes a bit cheaper or a bit more expensive.

Is the black and white theme clear and effective?

 Yes it stand out the most on the whole magazine.

Does the magazine appeal to your age group?

 Yes it does because of the layout and what is on the cover. Yu can relate to it.

Is the magazine effective about its point?

 yes even though the cover is simple it still puts its point across.

Is the language used in the magazine appropriate to your age group?

 Yes the words and the phrasing used is exactly what appeals to my age group.

My magazine cover consists of a basic image and basic text. This is important because the design needs to be basic and effective. The basic design will enable the reader to have a clear view and understanding of the magazine.

 

A basic and clear contents page is important because this is one of the first things that the reader will look at. This will give them the first impression of the magazine. This should include what is going to be in the magazine and what the main purpose of it is.

MY IMAGES

These are my images that I have taken for my magazine these images are the well focused and successful ones this is important because the eye path is clear and the main subject or subjects in the image are clear and distinctive. the composition in the image is clear and the colours contrast each other in the best way. the images are good because they have no distractions in the scene which means that the main focus in the image is the only focus in the image. finally in these images lighting is important because the reflection of light on the subjects effects the quality and composition of the final outcome of the image.

This image is good because it has clear composition and the lighting is reflecting well on the subject. In this image above the lighting is good because it reflects of one side of the subjects face and has a small yet distinctive shadow on the subjects face.

This image is good because it has clear composition and the contrast between the colours is clear but not to extreme. This is important because this means that the quality and the detail in the image are kept clear and easy to see.

This image is good because it has a clear foreground, middle ground and background. This is important because the paths are in the foreground which creates the detail in this area. The grass in the middle ground and in the background it shows the school. This is good because it allows the to be a distinctive yet not to extreme difference between the areas.

The content on a college magazine is important because this allows you to cover all of the important aspects of a magazine cover. The cover of the magazine should include all of the content within the magazine its self this is important to give an insight into what the main focus in the magazine actually is. The main aspects of a magazine front cover are strap line, mast head, cover line, main image and barcode.

A mast head is important because this allows the main point of the magazine to be shown without someone having to read the front cover to under stand what it is about. it allows a bold and clear introduction to the whole magazine.

A puff is good to use because this will allow you to have a small advertisement on the page without taking up to much room. This puff can advertise freebies, vouchers and many other things. this is important because this can d5raw readers in.

The left third is important because this allows the content of the magazine to be included on the cover and shows what the main content of it actually is. this third can also have adverts and other quotes and phrases.

The main image is important within a magazine because this is the first thing that the reader will look at this is because it should have brighter and more bold colours. this is important because the main image can determine weather or not someone is going to read the magazine its self.

The main quote on a magazine cover is used to draw people in this is because it can say something that interests the reader to look in and read on this is important  because it can be part of a story that makes people look in and read on.

The contents page is important because it shows what is on each page of the magazine this is key within a magazine because this allows you to see where the specific thing that you are looking for are within the magazine.

An image on the contents page is important because this helps to keep the reader interested this is because by linking the text to the visuals this allows the reader to have a connection between the two.

WHAT MAKES A BAD IMAGE

This image is bad because it is out of focus, blurry and has bad lighting. This is important because even though the subject is filling the screen the quality of the image is still very poor. Furthermore this image is bad because the detailing in the face is out of focused and the background is blurred as is the subject and this allows the image to be of poor quality . It would be better if the image was in focus as the tint of light would frame the subject and the image.
